What is the eBay Fields Tab?   

The eBay Fields tab is a place to put eBay specific information, formatting, etc.  This can include alternate title, description, category or item specific information.  You can even specify certain HTML to use for the product.  The information can then be used to provide the most flexibility when creating templates, or you can even list a single product directly from the product screen using the eBay fields.

 

Where does the information come from?

Unfortunately there is no Easy Button that will magically populate everything for you, so it will require a little bit of work.  The most simple way to populate the data is to do it manually.  You can click the Edit icon on any product, select the eBay Fields tab, and manually enter the data.  However, the most efficient way to populate the data is to export your catalog to a CSV file, add all of the information to the CSV file, and then reimport the CSV file to update all of the products.  Please refer to our article on Updating Products via CSV for more information.

 

Do I have to complete all the fields?

You do not need to enter data in all of the fields.  You only need to enter data for fields where you wish to use something other than what is on the General tab.

 

How can I use the eBay Fields?

You can override the data in the General tab and specify eBay specific information that can be used in the eBay Templates using the eBay Macros.  You can also use the Save and Publish Product button to list the product directly to eBay using the data specified in the eBay Fields.

 

 

Controls

The controls are for the Edit screen in general, not just the eBay Fields.  Some actions, such as Save and Publish Product will apply to more than just eBay.

  The Cancel button will cancel any changes made to the product and return you to the Product Catalog list screen.

  The Duplicate button will create a duplicate of the product and open the Edit screen for the duplicated product.

  The Save button will save all changes to the product and returns you to the Product Catalog list screen.

  Using the Save and Publish Product saves the product and then attempts to publish the product to the channels with tabs in the product.  The channel must have a Default Template selected.

 

 

Basics

The Basics section is where you will enter the most basic information for your product.  You can use Macros in any of the text fields.

 

Default Template:  Select the template that will be used when using the Save and Publish Product option.  Product will not publish without a Default Template selected.

Title:  Enter the eBay Title to be used for this product.  You can use Macros and text to alter the Title from the General tab or enter a completely new Title.

Description:  You can utilize the Description field to provide an alternate description for your product.  You can use a combination of Macros, Text, HTML and styling in the Description field, just like the Templates.

 

 

Category & Item Condition

 

eBay Category:  Enter the eBay category code for your products.  If you need assistance locating the proper eBay category, you can use the Sellware category finder tool by clicking on the Spyglass icon.  You can list in multiple categories by using both category fields.  Click the Clear Item Specifics and Refresh link upon entering or changing the eBay Category to refresh the Item Specifics options.

eBay Store Category: Select the optional store category for your listing from the dropdown.

Item Condition:  Select the Item Condition for your product.  Ensure that you have already selected an eBay Category as some categories have specific Item Condition options.

Item Specifics

Item Specifics options depend on the eBay Category selected and will only display once an eBay Category has been entered.  Select the value for each attribute from the dropdowns on the right.

NOTE: Click the Clear Item Specifics and Refresh link when entering or changing the eBay Category to display the correct Item Specifics for the selected eBay Category.

 

Since the attributes change based on the eBay Category, the macros for the Item Specifics are more generic.  There are two macros for each, one for the attribute name, and another for the attribute value, as follows:

Attribute Name: ebay:attribute_name_# (ie. ebay:attribute_name_1, ebay:attribute_name_2, etc)
Attribute Value: ebay:attribute_value_#  (ie. ebay:attribute_value_1, ebay:attribute_value_2, etc)

 

 

Override and Advanced Settings

Clicking on the (Show/Hide) link expands the Overrides and Advanced Settings section as seen below.  In this section you can find fields for most of the common elements that users override on their eBay listings, as well as fields to support some of the more advanced eBay features.  Below the image you will find details on each field.

 

Starting Price: You have a choice in entering a fixed price or using the Macros.  If you choose the Macros, you have the option to enter the price as a formula to automatically adjust the pricing before listing on eBay.  If you are listing a price for an auction in eBay, Sellware prides three custom fields allowing you to designate the start, bin or reserve price for your listing.

Buy It Now Price: This is the price that you will sell a product will for immediately.  Must be at least 30% more than Starting Price.  Allows you to have multiple quantity for Auction format. Only valid on Auction format listings.

Reserve Price: The Reserve Price is the minimum that you will allow a product to sell for.  If the listing does not reach the Reserve price, it will not be sold.  Only valid on Auction format listings.

Best Offer Preference:  Select Yes or No to add Best Offer option to your product listing.

Best Offer Minimum Price:  The lowest price that you will consider for Best Offer.

Best Off Accept Price:  The price (or higher) at which the system will automatically accept the Best Offer.

Floor Price:  This is the lowest price that you will accept.  This is used to ensure there are no processing glitches.

Ceiling Price:  This is the highest price that you will accept. This is used to ensure there are no processing glitches.

Pricing Treatment: Select one of the pricing treatment options for your listing, "Strike-Thru Retail Price (MSRP)" or "Show Minimum Advertised Price (MAP)"

MAP Preference: Select to display the MAP before checkoug ("Pre-Checkout") or "During Checkout"

NOTE: MSRP and MAP are automatically pulled from the General tab of your product.

Shipping Price (Domestic):  You can use these to specify the Domestic Shipping charges in the template.

Additional Shipping:  You can use these to specify the Additional Domestic Shipping charges in the template.

Shipping Price (International):  You can use these to specify the International Shipping charges in the template.

Additional Shipping:  You can use these to specify the Additional International Shipping charges in the template.

NOTE: Above each field is the Macro for that particular field.  e.g. For Floor Price (floor_price) you would enter {@floor_price@}
